Michael Cruz is an actor, dancer, singer and playwright from San Juan, Puerto Rico. After studying design, theatre and dance at Carnegie Mellon University in the United States, he worked as a designer and event producer in Amsterdam, New York and Los Angeles. He continued his acting training at the Anthony Meindl’s Actor Workshop in Los Angeles where he lived most recently before moving to Ireland in 2021. For the past few years Michael has been working with LA based writer/set designer Eric Hollis, and Hollywood film editor Craig Wood on several theatre projects including Hemming it up!, a play with dance which they recently workshopped in Gorey Little Theatre, and which they hope to produce in Ireland in the near future, with Michael playing the lead role. His most recent theatre credits include Bernardo in GMS’s West Side Story, Gorey Little Theatre, for which he received an AIMS Award for ‘Best Supporting Actor’ in 2023; Angel in NWMT’s production of Rent, Gorey Little Theatre (AIMS nomination 2024, ‘Best Supporting Actor’); and Carmen Ghia in Oyster Lane Theatre’s The Producers, National Opera House.
