John Olohan

John Olohan is one of Ireland’s best-known and most respected actors. He was recently seen on our screens in FOREVER IN MY HEART directed by Steven R. Monroe.

He was recently seen on stage in Druid’s THE CHERRY ORCHARD and DRUIDGREGORY in Galway.

Other Recent stage credits include THE THING ABOUT DECEMBER for Decadent Theatre Company, THE CRIPPLE OF INISHMAAN by Martin McDonagh at the Gaiety Theatre and in the Druid productions of RICHARD III and KING OF THE CASTLE by Eugene McCabe, both directed by Garry Hynes.  John B. Keane’s THE CHASTITUTE directed by Michael Scott at The Gaiety Theatre, Dublin. Prior to that he played the role of Himself in THE REMAINS OF MAISIE DUGGAN by Carmel Winters, directed by Ellen McDougall for the Abbey Theatre’s Peacock Stage.

In 2016, John reprised his role as Byrne in a revival of Druid’s BIG MAGGIE, directed by Garry Hynes, a role for which he won the award for Best Supporting Actor at the Irish Times Theatre Awards in 2012.

Other notable credits include the the role of John Redmond in TRIAL OF THE CENTURY directed by Maurice Sweeney for Treasure Entertainment/TV3, the highly-acclaimed DRUID SHAKESPEARE project directed by Garry Hynes, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM, directed by Gavin Quinn at the Abbey Theatre (Ireland’s National Theatre), BORSTAL BOY directed by Conall Morrison at the Gaiety Theatre, Dublin, and FINGS AIN’T WOT THEY USE T’BE at the Theatre Royal, Stratford East.

John is perhaps most recognised for his role as Finbarr in RTÉ’s long-running drama GLENROE and for his role as Sgt. Deegan in the ever-popular FATHER TED.

He is based in Dublin.
