Peter Shine

Peter Shine is originally from Clonown, Co. Roscommon and has been involved with theatre making since he was 15 years old when he joined the Centre Stage Youth Theatre in Athlone. Here he met several other like minded theatre heads and began writing and directing plays with them. With this group, Peter went on to write, direct and act in plays for Culture Night, the TriAthlone Festival and the All-Ireland Drama Festival Fringe.

Peter is a graduate of the NUI Galway BA CONNECT with Theatre and Performance (2008-2012). It was in this course that he first met Andrew Flynn who directed their production of ‘At the Black Pig’s Dyke’ (2011), in which Peter played Jack Boles.
More recently, during his time as Artistic Director of ThereisBear! Theatre company, Peter wrote and directed a play (‘No Show’, 2014) that was awarded the FUEL Emerging Artist Residency by Druid Theatre Company.

Peter has performed in many of ThereisBear! Theatre’s productions, such as: The Merchant of Venice (Bassanio); No Way Out (Garcin) and original play Ballykilldowna (Jason).

With NUIG Dramsoc, Peter has also had major roles in plays such as: Macbeth (Macbeth); Twelfth Night (Olivia); Philadelphia, Here I Come! (S.B. O’Donnell) and The Last Burning (Mr. Blaney).

Peter has worked with Andrew on his productions of The Adventures of Shay Mouse and Midsummer, where he had supporting roles.
